Brightway Insurance thrives by saving customers money

Agency adds $35 million in new policies, 25,000 customers
and 24 offices in 2009

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (December 1, 2009) -- As more and more insurance providers leave Florida and others face a difficult economic cycle, one local insurance company continues to expand by offering customer convenience, outstanding service, competitive pricing and customizable policy options.

Brightway Insurance, Florida's fastest-growing privately-held property and causality insurance agency, according to the 2009 Inc. 5000 report, has secured approximately $35 million in new premiums in the past 12 months, despite difficult economic conditions. Brightway's sales continue to grow as customers become more aware of the potential savings that Brightway offers. Based on fourth quarter volume, Brightway now writes $1 million in new customer premiums every seven business days.

“Unlike other insurance brands that offer only one carrier choice, Brightway's model gives customers more than 100 top-rate insurance brands to choose from, all under one roof,” said David C. Miller, Brightway Insurance's chief executive officer. “Customers tell us they really appreciate the convenience of having many local offices and highly skilled agents who make sure they have only the coverage they really need, eliminating any waste.”

This hassle-free model has helped Brightway write more than 25,000 new policies over the past 12 months, which accounts for the approximately $35 million in new premiums. Although the individual savings per customer may vary, Brightway has saved its customers millions of dollars in the past few months and up to 40 percent off of previous premiums, Miller said.

As the number of policies grows, so does the number of Brightway offices. In 2009, Brightway Insurance opened 24 new Florida offices, eight located in Northeast Florida. The company plans to open six additional Florida offices in first quarter 2010, three of which will be in Northeast Florida.

As the company, grows its customers and agency offices, it must also add staff. In 2009, Brightway Insurance hired 20 additional employees in its Jacksonville headquarters. The company expects to hire another 30 there in 2010. Statewide, Brightway created 150 associate positions in 2009 - 50 of those were in Jacksonville-area agency offices- and the company plans to create 300 additional associate positions throughout Florida in 2010.

To date, Brightway Insurance has 60 Florida offices with more than 250 associates. Brightway's annual sales have continued to double in each of the last five years. In November 2009, Insurance Journal named Brightway the 27th largest personal lines insurance agency in the country. Florida Trend also ranked Brightway seventh on its list of top 100 “Florida's Best Companies to Work For.” The Jacksonville Business Journal has named Brightway among its “Best Places to Work in Northeast Florida” for the past four years.
